Our theme this month is the work experiences for Hispanic/Latino Immigrants.
Our presenter is Michael Flynn
Michael Flynn is an applied anthropologist whose research interests include social determinants of health, organizational culture, and intervention effectiveness. He currently serves as a social scientist with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) where he coordinates the Occupational Health Equity Program. He is also the project officer for a program of research to better understand and improve the occupational health of immigrant workers. Prior to coming to NIOSH in 2004, Michael worked for ten years in non-governmental organizations in Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States. He is a member of the National Advisory Committee for the Mexican consulates’ Ventanillas de Salud health promotion program and is a research fellow of the Consortium for Multicultural Psychology Research at Michigan State University. He has a Master’s degree in anthropology from the University of Cincinnati is currently pursuing a PhD in anthropology at the University of Kentucky.
As always, we will provide time to share information about future events or programs. Feel free to invite anyone who could benefit from our meetings, which take place on the fourth Tuesday of every month with the exception of July and December.
