Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency
1740 Langdon Farm Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45237

Our theme this month is health research related to the Hispanic/Latino community. Our presenters are Dr. Keith Martin and Liliana Rojas-Guyler, PhD.

Keith Martin, DO, MS, is an attending pediatrician and NRSA General Pediatrics Research Fellow in the Division of General & Community Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's. He will be discussing a qualitative project looking to explore immigration-related trauma among Latinx parents and youth. The qualitative data will lay the groundwork for improved measurement of immigration-related trauma among US children.

He has published peer-reviewed policy-oriented research in pediatric injury prevention and has presented nationally on trauma relevant to immigrant parents and their children. His research explores the gaps that marginalized populations fall into. His focus includes immigrant health, structural racism, alternative access systems and adolescents in the foster care system. The long-term focus of his work is on measuring and mitigating immigration-related trauma among US children.

Liliana Rojas-Guyler, PhD, FESG, CHES© is an Associate Professor of Health Promotion & Education at the University of Cincinnati. She will share the findings of the Community Health Status Survey, conducted in 2017 and funded by Interact for Health. This report is useful in assessing, providing and educating about the service needs of Latinos.

Dr. Rojas-Guyler is an active professional in her field. She serves as a reviewer for several professional journals and is a member of the editorial board for The Health Educator. She has worked at the national level with Eta Sigma Gamma, the national honorary for her profession, the Society for Public Health Education, and has held membership with several other organizations including the APHA, SOPHE & ESG among others. She has served the community and is currently a member of Interact for Health’s Community Involvement Committee and a research consultant for the Latino Community Health.

As always, we will provide time to share information about future events or programs. Feel free to invite anyone who could benefit from our meetings, which take place on the fourth Tuesday of every month with the exception of July and December.

Please visit our
