Small Business Updates: Paycheck Protection Program Round 2

On December 21, 2020, Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, which, among other things, reauthorized the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Congress added $248.5 Billion to the PPP to provide small businesses with an additional round of forgivable loans. This news is important for small businesses.

• Employers can include employer-paid group insurance premiums – including employer-paid life, disability, dental, and vision insurance premiums – as payroll costs in their forgivable loan amount

• Qualifications are different from the first round and apply mainly to employers with fewer than 300 employees
