The School of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a full-time (nine-month) Instructor and Chemistry Lab Manager. The position begins in August 2025. The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of six contact hours each semester in 100-level chemistry courses. In addition to these teaching responsibilities, the candidate will receive six contact hours of release time each semester to serve as the Chemistry Lab Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching lecture and/or lab for General Chemistry and a one-semester General, Organic, and Biochemistry course for allied health majors
  • Maintaining the inventory of the chemistry stockroom
  • Preparing materials for lab courses
  • Training and supervising ~2-3 student workers
  • Managing the proper storage and disposal of chemicals
  • Scheduling service visits for fume hoods, balances, pipettors, and other equipment

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience handling hazardous materials and implementing government lab standards. Successful candidates will be expected to develop expertise in these areas.
