Position Description
Cincinnati Public Radio is looking for an Events and Volunteer Coordinator to bring our stations — NPR affiliate 91.7 WVXU and classical music station 90.9 WGUC — even closer to the community we serve.

This role is at the heart of our engagement work: you will design memorable events, coordinate volunteers, and represent CPR at gatherings throughout Greater Cincinnati. You will also manage programming in our new headquarters — both CPR-hosted events and those organized by outside groups. This includes collaborating with community partners, nonprofits, and individuals who wish to host events in our space, utilizing event management software to coordinate logistics, and ensure successful outcomes.

From our Classics for Kids and Democracy & Me programs to station tours, membership events, fundraisers, and community meetups, your creativity and organization will help build meaningful connections with our listeners and supporters.

In conjunction with the development team, the Events and Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting volunteers, conducting volunteer orientations, scheduling, and supervising volunteer activities, as well as planning and executing fundraising events.

Cincinnati Public Radio has been a trusted member of the Greater Cincinnati community for more than 60 years. Join an award-winning team that works to build trust and make a difference in the lives of listeners and non-listeners alike, creating a community that is informed, involved, and inspired.

What You will Do

Plan and Manage Events
  • Lead all aspects of CPR events — from membership gatherings and program events to hosting visiting public radio shows and community outreach opportunities.
  • Handle logistics including budgeting, venues, catering, décor, travel, audio visual needs, guest lists, and staff assignments.
  • Represent CPR at community events, panels, and meetings — and serve as our lead for the Cincinnati International Wine Festival partnership.
  • Host station tours for groups like youth organizations and sustaining members.
 Manage Rental Spaces
  • Oversee use of the rental spaces in the new headquarters for both station-led and third-party events.
  • Work closely with outside organizations, nonprofits, and event planners who host events.
  • Partner with CPR’s COO to manage external event requests, contracts, and scheduling.
  • Use event management software to coordinate details, streamline logistics, and ensure a high-quality experience for all participants.
Coordinate Volunteers
  • Recruit, schedule, and supervise volunteers for events, station activities, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Manage volunteers for community tabling events.
  • Organize schedule for front desk volunteers, who greet visitors and manage guest access to the building.
  • Organize our volunteer recognition event.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations with staff and volunteers.
Collaborate Across the Organization
  • Partner with the Development team on fundraising events and on-air fund drives (including scheduling volunteers and answering phones).
  • Support colleagues in the Content department and throughout CPR when needed.
  • Take on other projects and duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For

Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience with event or volunteering experience, preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and an interest in working collaboratively to support staff and other departments through the organization.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse and creative team.
  • Understanding of Cincinnati Public Radio’s programming and belief in our mission and vision.
Physical and Job Requirements
  • Must be able to set up pop up tent, tables, and chairs for community engagement events.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move 25/50 pounds occasionally.
  • Weekend and evening work is required on occasion and during scheduled events.
What We Offer

Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary of $48,000-$53,000 per year, paid biweekly.
  • Eligible to participate in company sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Eligible to participate in company sponsored 403(b) plan and eligible for matching contributions after one year of employment.
  • Employer paid basic life insurance and long-term disability insurance.
  • Eligible to purchase and participate in voluntary life insurance and short-term disability insurance plans.
  • Fifteen days of paid time off per year.
  • Eight days of sick time per year.
  • Eleven paid holidays.
