Job Description Summary
Assistant Director for Fitness is responsible for the management of group fitness classes, workshops, and special events in addition to assisting with personal training, facility and equipment upkeep, and academic /education programs related to fitness.

 

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Direct group fitness programming including scheduling, equipment, staffing, evaluation, marketing, budgets and risk management. 
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate 15-20 group fitness instructors. 
  • Oversee fitness facility reservations including payments and general operations. 
  • Assist with cleaning, maintenance, inventory and purchasing of fitness equipment. Assist with fitness program marketing and sponsorships.
  • Provide support for Miami Bound program and Living Learning Community
  • Serve on one internal work team
  • Act as Manager on Duty providing supervision for the Recreational Sports Center and satellite facilities. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience with programming and instruction of fitness classes

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Ability to work independently and within a team across a wide range of demographics
  • Technical competence in multiple styles of fitness classes and/or personal training with a basic understanding of anatomy and movement patterns
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Willingness and ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
