October chills are just around the corner, but the thrills are here and thriving this week downtown! Tomorrow night, gather around and hear the tale of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, the latest heart-pounding production from the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Cast away by his creator, Victor Frankenstein’s rejected creature is thrust into a world that recoils in terror, disgusted by his inhumanity. A new spin on the gothic tale from the mother of science fiction promises to be a spine-tingling encounter with one of literature's most iconic monsters. Ideal for the Halloween season, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein will ask the question: who is the real monster, creature, or creator? Tickets won’t last long! Buy yours and electrify your plans today.

The city will be abuzz Saturday morning in celebration of the 11th annual Queen Bee Half Marathon! Bee-lieve the hype! This race is on a mission: to promote the fun of fitness while raising support and funds for local charities that focus on women. The 13.1-mile course steps off at 7:30AM at the Reading Road and Pendleton Street intersection near the Hard Rock Casino. From there, the course goes through some of Cincinnati’s historic and scenic neighborhoods, with plenty of entertainment and refreshment zones along the way! A victory party at Sawyer Point, where you can reunite with family and friends and celebrate your accomplishments, is the perfect way to take the sting out of those Queen City hills. All registered participants will receive a long-sleeve shirt, finisher medal, premium bag, and more! There’s still time to join the hive! Buzz over to the registration page now!

Who could ever learn to love a beast? Be the Taft Theatre’s guest this weekend and find out for yourself! Based on the original Broadway production that ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. Show times vary on Saturday and Sunday. Book your tickets to spellbinding family fun before the last petal falls!

Cash in your raincheck and experience Cincinnati’s Moon Festival at Fountain Square on Saturday! The rescheduled festival is a family-friendly celebration of Asian culture, traditions, and the arrival of the autumn harvest moon. Visitors will have a rare opportunity to watch a dazzling performance of “Face Changing” by Master Sen Gao, a Martial Arts champion. A classic act in Sichuan Opera, performers wearing colorful masks that depict historical characters magically change from one face to another almost instantaneously with the swipe of a fan, a movement of the head, or a wave of the hand. A free tea tasting experience featuring Chinese and Japanese tea cultures highlights this year's expanded program. As a tradition, this popular event features a variety of family-friendly activities, food, cultural displays, and performances from multiple Asian cultures. All are welcome to the free cultural immersion experience starting at 12PM!
