Santa Maria Wins Equity in Practice Award at Invest in Neighborhood's Cincinnati Neighborhoods Summit

CINCINNATI, OH – It was a celebratory day for Santa Maria Community Services as the organization was recognized with the prestigious Equity In Practice Award during the annual Cincinnati Neighborhoods Summit held on April 20, 2024, at the University of Cincinnati’s Tangeman University Center. The award, presented by Invest in Neighborhoods, highlights Santa Maria's ongoing commitment to fostering racial and ethnic diversity and inclusion within the Price Hill community.

H.A. Musser, Jr., President and CEO of Santa Maria, proudly accepted the award on behalf of the organization. The ceremony featured remarks from Elizabeth Bartley, Executive Director of Invest in Neighborhoods, and Cincinnati City Councilmember Scotty Johnson, who both praised Santa Maria’s dedication to embracing and uplifting the diverse racial and ethnic populations in Price Hill.

"This award recognizes our collective efforts at Santa Maria to ensure that every voice within our community is heard and valued," said H.A. Musser, Jr. “It reflects our commitment to fostering a more inclusive future where cultural diversity is not just acknowledged but celebrated.”

Invest in Neighborhoods has been a cornerstone organization since 1982, dedicated to empowering community councils and enhancing civic life in Cincinnati. Their recognition of Santa Maria with the Equity In Practice Award is a significant acknowledgment of the nonprofit’s effective work with all people and, in particular, the Hispanic community.

The event highlighted the crucial role of community engagement and the contributions of local organizations like Santa Maria in building a stronger, more inclusive community. "We extend our deepest gratitude to Invest in Neighborhoods for this honor and for their continuous support of community-led initiatives," added Musser.

Santa Maria Community Services continues to work with program participants, volunteers, and staff to foster an environment where all people feel welcome and included. This accolade serves as a milestone in its journey toward creating a vibrant, thriving, and self-sustaining community in Price Hill.
