Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs (OCHLA) Hires New Executive Director
 

Columbus, Ohio — The Ohio Latino Affairs Commission (OCHLA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Giovanna Alvarez as its new Executive Director. With a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to advancing the well-being of Ohio's Latino community, Ms. Alvarez brings a fresh perspective and dynamic leadership to OCHLA.


Giovanna Alvarez has an impressive track record of service within non-profit organizations dedicated to serving the Hispano/Latino Community in Springfield, New Carlisle, and Cincinnati. Her 16 years of active involvement in community leadership and service have shaped her passion for promoting equity, inclusion, and cultural understanding. As she steps into her new role, Giovanna expresses her excitement:

"As the Hispanic/Latino Community continues to grow, I am thrilled to have this great opportunity to make a positive impact and create growth and collaboration opportunities for our communities in the State of Ohio."


Giovanna's commitment extends beyond her professional responsibilities. She is an engaged member of several Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) boards, fostering, connections and driving meaningful change. Her collaborative spirit and dedication to community empowerment make her an excellent fit for OCHLA's mission.


The Ohio Latino Affairs Commission (OCHLA) state government on issues affecting Hispanic Ohioans, connects the diverse Latino communities across the state, and builds the capacity of community organizations so they may better serve the fast-growing Latino population of Ohio.
