Registration opens for spring programs in the Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio
CINCINNATI – After a sold-out inaugural slate of food science programs, Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) is releasing their spring schedule for aspiring young chefs. In the spring programs, the museum’s Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio featuring the Kroger Food Lab will walk culinary superstars and microwave misfits alike through classic recipes like omelets, tacos and pizza, as well as more complex recipes including crepes, sushi and cacio e pepe. Registration for the programs opens Friday, January 19.

The Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio is a versatile programming space outfitted with ovens, ranges, blenders and more. The kitchen becomes a laboratory as you explore the science behind cooking, the chemical reactions that change flavor and textures and the tactile motor skills that make it all possible. But the Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio is not just about science, it’s also an entry point to our region’s history, food community and world cultures.
Programs are available for kids to cook alone and to cook alongside an adult. Each program invites you to prep and cook your way through classic and experimental recipes while exploring the science and history behind them.

Omelets – February 15

Crepes – February 29
Travel back in time to 13th century France to recr(eat)e this breakfast hallmark with fruit and toppings.
Sushi – March 7
Slice and roll your way into a veggie-forward classic. Learn classic sushi roll techniques and the science behind sticky rice.
Quesadillas – April 4
Learn the chemistry of the Millard reactions that drive our favorite foods as you cook up a classic snack.

Explore the ingenuity of one of the world’s most famous portable foods.

Junior Chefs featuring Al’s Delicious Popcorn – March 2
Join Chef Jaylen of Al’s Delicious Popcorn to discover the science of how flavors are developed while using your flavor palates to cr(eat)e your own flavor of popcorn. Will it be sweet, savory, spicy, umami, bitter or some combination?
Cacio e Pepe – April 20
Make homemade pasta and combine the simplest ingredients of cheese and pepper to cr(eat)e a famous Roman dish.
Roman Meatball Sub – May 11
Grab your time machine and investigate the ancient Roman “hero” of your tastebuds.
