The BioOpticalXplore (BOX) Lab at Miami University is seeking a Research Associate to develop a novel adaptive optical imaging system for clinical and fundamental biological research. In collaboration with clinicians, the lab aims to validate new imaging technologies. In addition to their assigned responsibilities, the successful candidate will be encouraged to pursue new research directions and apply for independent research grants.
Job Description
Duties:
- Lead project execution and conduct independent research.
- Guide team members to achieve project milestones.
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.
- Contribute to grant proposals.
- Explore new research directions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience building optical systems on an optical bench.
- Familiarity with data and imaging acquisition and processing.
- Demonstrated independent research capability (e.g., peer-reviewed publications).
Consideration will be given to applicants with:
- Programming experience in at least one of programming languages, C, C++, C#, or Java.
- Experience developing optical imaging devices (e.g., OCT or two-photon imaging).
- Experience developing .NET-based applications.
- Background in data or imaging processing using deep learning.
- FPGA programming skills responsibility.
