A Jesuit school in Cincinnati, Ohio, Xavier University was founded in 1831. Xavier¹s core curriculum includes courses in art, history, philosophy and theology. A quarter of undergraduate students pursue business degrees in the Williams College of Business, where 70 percent of professors use experiential learning in teaching their courses. Another 35 percent of students major in the professional sciences and 37 percent in arts and sciences. The Sedler Family Center for Experiential Learning in Business provides students with mentoring from business executives and alumni in the Cincinnati area. Outside of class, students participate in public service immersion trips, non-profit internships, and spiritual retreats through the Dorothy Day Center for Faith and Justice. Notable alumni include Pulitzer Prize-winning author Garry Wills, former U.S. Speaker of the House John Boehner, and Golden State Warriors forward David West.
