Responsibilities include teaching sport communication and applied media courses; advising students; and providing professional service to the department, college, and institution. This position is eligible for promotion, but not tenure.

Sport Leadership and Management (SLAM) is a growing department serving 800+ undergraduate students (majors and minors) and 60+ graduate students. The mission of SLAM is to prepare students to succeed in leadership positions in the sport industry by providing them with knowledge and skills to critically analyze and innovatively engage in the business and culture of sport. The SLAM has three undergraduate majors designed to prepare students for specific career opportunities in Sport Management, Sport Coaching, Sport Communication and Media. SLAM students often double major or minor in management, marketing, or entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business, a nationally ranked top-25 undergraduate business program.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Sport Media, Sport Communication, Communication Studies, Media Studies, Sports Management, or closely related field required by date of appointment for appointment as Assistant Lecturer.
  • Doctoral degree in Sport Media, Sport Communication, Communication Studies, Media Studies, Sports Management, or a closely related field required by date of appointment for appointment as Assistant Teaching Professor.
  • Consideration may be given to candidates with evidence of high-quality instruction; experience teaching sport communication and media courses at the college level; managerial or executive-level professional experience or highly applied professional experience; experience with technology and equipment used in the sport communication and media field; and experience with video and audio production.
